The Arabian sands by Wilfred Thesiger is a fascinating book. There is a contradiction between the passion of the explorer for the Arabian desert, and the feeling of boredom which appears in precise circumstances: as soon as the journey gets easier and when the danger of dying (because of hunger or thirst) vanishes.
