This article studies the presence of laughter in the works and thought of Cioran. Having determined the essential relationship of laughter with the experiences of death and madness, it analyzes the Cioranian humoristic vision of the world. Self-mockery and irony are tactics for Cioran art-de-vivre, with whom he has overcome the problem of suicide.
