Towards the end of the war, Camus' interest in the problem of language becomes evident, linked to his reflection on the society of the 1940s. His “social critique” shows that words are not a simple tool for expressing the subjective universe, but a network of images that creates the vision of the world by orienting thought. The article follows his continuing reflection on language in The Plague, which leads to the theme of habit and consciousness of measurement.
