The multiple lifes of stones Ancient reuses in the Puy-en-Velay Cathedral through nineteenth-century archaeology

The Cathedral of Le Puy-en-Velay was almost entirely dismantled and reassembled in the nineteenth century to stabilize its structures. If the restoration was radical, it did not, however, invent the puzzle of ancient reuses found in the medieval structure’s construction, as evidenced by the archives of Auguste Aymard.
