In the Hands of Romanian Witnesses Romanian Crime according to Western, Bicultural, and Romanian Writers

Wherein we examine Romania as represented in French (Gontard, Dozsa, Slocombe, Jonquet, Koudero) and Canadian (Bolduc, Thornley) crime and detective novels. Chirovici and Duca, bicultural authors whose plots avoid their Romanian origins and distinguish themselves both from other bicultural novelists (such as the visceral anti-communist Gheorghiu, the sarcastic Audet-Găinar, or Bogdan who co-wrote a novel with a French author, and Lortchenkov the Russian from Moldova) and also from Romanian novelists. If Romanian genre fiction before 1989 remains largely unknown in French, a few titles were however heralds of things to come (Sadoveanu, Rebreanu, Maïlat).
