Abstract: Resilience of farming systems is a major issue. In the Massif Central (France), droughts can hold concurrently with voles’ outbreaks. Breeders face a “fodder dilemma”: optimum or safety represent two contradictory goals. Thanks to bioeconomic model and simulations, we point out the effects of different strategies to secure a grass-based fodder system and increase its buffer capacity. We show that these strategies don’t provide the same level of resilience.
