Abstract: The Dictionnaire Français=Chinois 法华新字典 (1910), is the first bilingual French-Chinese dictionary composed and published by Chinese people. However Chinese lexicographers state clearly in the preface that it is a translation of a French Larousse. An analysis of the articles of the Dictionnaire Français=Chinois shows that it is more a Chinese adaptation of a certain French Larousse than a simple translation.
