Abstract: Marie Leprince de Beaumont’s work reveals the Cartesian inspiration of her philosophical and metaphysical thought. Moreover, Malebranche’s Conversations chrétiennes represent an obvious model for her Magasins and Les Américaines. To give the majority of her contemporaries and in particular to try to give to girls and women “esprits géométriques”, she updates Cartesian philosophy and she reveals herself as a Christian philosopher of the Enlightenment.
