Abstract: Creole languages present themselves as an epistemic means of accessing the history of the French language. Elements that can help provide answers are affored by an ecological analysis of Caribbean contact situations in the 17th and 18th centuries and by taking into consideration speakers of French regional dialects. Emphasis is placed on the evolution of grammar.
