Abstract: In six short stories composed from 1837 to 1839, Musset is revealed to be a prose writer full of talent and charm, as Balzac had observed. The 1855 edition presented with its variants is accompanied by a study of the genesis of the stories and an analysis of the places of the Contes and the Nouvelles.
