Abstract: For decades, neological creation in the Walloon language has been a source of tension between the main actors involved in the promotion of Wallonia's regional Romance languages. Dialectologists who are keen on the authenticity of dialectal forms are opposed, both on its principles and its applications, to planners who are not averse to modernising the Walloon lexicon. This contribution analyses these conflicting relationships and suggests some concrete ways to overcome them.
