Abstract: To study the reception of Leprince de Beaumont’s work and biography in late primary and early secondary school classes in France, we have studied syllabuses and textbooks. Biographical and bibliographical entries, comments on the author and her work help establish Leprince de Beaumont’s status in the reception by schools of women authors, educationalists and authors of children’s literature. For her most famous tale, possible references to Madame de Villeneuve’s story are taken into account.
