Abstract: With her Magasin des enfants (1756) Leprince de Beaumont was one of the first authors to write a text adapted to childhood. The educational dialogue between the governess, Mlle Bonne, and her young charges, girls aged between 7 and 12, dispenses religious, moral but also geographical and scientific knowledge to the children and precepts for a governess to succeed. For her young readers, Leprince de Beaumont presents prepared and mediated texts, for governesses, she delivers a step-by-step instruction manual.
