  • Abstract: This article focuses on the references to Chinese culinary art described by Ibn Battuta in his rihla. In light of knowledge about Chinese civilization, this study identifies and analyzes what the maghrébin traveler says about Chinese customs and food uses, foods grown and cooked in China—particularly fruit and grains—, as well as the utensils and containers used in Chinese cuisine.
