Abstract:Le Chemin des poussières, the latest novel by the Mauritian writer Alain Gordon-Gentil, provides its readers with a reflection on the heritage of Mahatma. The ahimsa advocated by him, i.e. the rejection of violence, led the unarmed crowds of South Indians to a victory, but in India nowadays there are violent conflicts between Hindus and Muslims. The novel is a reflection on the contemporary world that longs for justice and peace, but is torn by the violence which undergoes constant rebirth.
