  • Abstract: The teaching of literature can become a tool for a far reaching reflection on the evolution of a society which has gone through several upheavals. This is the case with Mayotte where children’s school life is affected by social challenges as a sometimes chaotic schooling does not lead to a training that can guarantee a stable employment. The paper suggests the institutionalization of the teaching of literature from Mayotte in the curricula as a means to instigate social changes.
