Abstract: The New Latin American novel with Carlos Fuentes as its figurehead is a transposition of the New French novel which postulates “the adventure of writing”. At the same time, the avant garde poetics of Aimé Césaire’s negritude and Édouard Glissant’s creolization are aesthetic strategies celebrating the total freedom of creation, the writer’s commitment and historical consciousness which appear in the Caribbean. This paper probes into these conjectures in the writing of Soeuf Elbadawi.
