Abstract: The dictionary is undoubtedly an asset for communities and peoples. A tool for communication, mediation and shared knowledge. The aim of this article is to warn against the risks of the linguistic and cultural heritage traditionally provided by old editions of dictionaries being lost in the web. The latter are indispensable tools for sociolexicographic studies and the history of human relations.
