Abstract: Linguistic interference has allowed for the migration of words and expressions from one language to another. However, these borrowings do not have the same status in dictionaries. Lexical and semantic borrowings receive special treatment and often constitute the entries in dictionaries, followed by precise data on their origins and their particularities. In contrast, calques are marginalised within paragraphs. This situation is noticeable in both French and Arabic dictionaries.
