Abstract: If politics in the literary work is "only a pistol shot in the middle of a concert" (Stendhal), the question arises as to what role could we attribute to it in the dictionary, a linguistic work par excellence. Based on the three editions of the Dictionary of Contemporary Lithuanian, which date from 1954, 1972 and 1993 respectively, this article attempts to give the answer.
