Abstract: The Brief Sapiential Statements from the Aliento corpus usually resemble quotes, in the tradition of philosophers' sayings. These reported speech fragments are characterized by their lead-in, a process that has an effect on temporality. This article studies this process across the fields of Discourse Analysis and Traductology in several texts of the corpus : Pierre Alphonse's Disciplina clericalis, Bocados de oro and Bonium, its Latin version, and Flores de filosofía.
