Abstract: The relationship between Paul Valéry and the Middle East is part of a long tradition of literary emancipation. It goes back to the 1920s and has marked generations of intellectuals and writers to the point of naming the greatest Lebanese poet Saïd Aakl ﺴﻌﻴﺪﻋﻘﻞ, the “Valéry of the Arabs”. The translation of La Jeune Parque by the Lebanese writer Édouard Tarabay ﺍﺪﻮﺍﺮﻄﺮﺒﻴﻪ is a real initiatory journey combining imitation in the approach and creation in the translation. All translations are rewritings, they become real creations and ensure continuity and transmission between two cultures.
