Abstract: Being neither a discipline nor a sectoral history, the history of construction is a material and human history. To establish a current state of affairs, this article starts by constituting three dossiers consisting of work that has appeared on the period, the theses and professional theses defended, and French participation in national and international congresses of the period. The inventory is supplemented by the contributions of the archeology of construction and by an explanation of the lessons learned.
