Abstract: This is a longitudinal study of the prototyping process introduced to develop a new service: remote assistance in a military context. This form of prototyping is original on several accounts and contrasts significantly with the vision and prescriptions of Rapid Prototyping. We demonstrate that it allowed i) the emergence of a technical solution, ii) evolution of the value proposition, and iii) the development of a rich and structured ecosystem for the service.
