Abstract: Bref, a newspaper published between 1955 and 1972, closely linked to Jean Vilar’s TNP, is an exemplary case of the link between audience loyalty and editorial activity in public theatres in France. The article retraces the circumstances of its birth, under the leadership of L’Arche, and describes the textual and graphical characters of a newspaper that placed communication with its readers/spectators at the centre of the theatrical device.
