  • Abstract: This article studies the language of passions in the field of dance from the point of view of the literature about it from the 17th century until the early 20th century. The stress is put on the discourses surrounding spectacular affects in their close relationship with the philosophical and cultural evolution of the notion through several changes of emotional regime in the art of choreographic composition as well as in the realm of reception.
