Abstract: Destouches wrote with great success for the Comédie-Française between 1715 and 1750, and was constantly quoted, published, and translated up to the end of the nineteenth century. The publication of his Théâtre complet by an international team of specialists allows us to reread an author who is central to the aesthetic and moral debates of his century.
