. L’identité du japonais face aux traductions : les cas du bouddhisme, de la philosophie et du kanbun
  • Author: Tollini (Aldo)
  • Abstract: Japanese Buddhism inherited a teaching that was strongly influenced by Chinese interpretations. Moreover, the transmission of Dharma took place largely through the Chinese sūtra, with an enormous work of translation that played a central role. The Japanese language of the time, unable to deal with the complex thought of Buddhism, had to adopt a strategy called kanbun kundoku a peculiar mix of Japanese and Chinese languages which led to a bilingual text of a strongly hybrid nature.
