Abstract: The article examines the different translation strategies used by commentators of Nahuatl philosophy. Through a study of the etymology of terms isolated for their notional importance, our aim is to highlight the conceptual coherence of the Nahuatl language. These translations, which insist on the figurative power of language, seem to renew, almost unwittingly, a debatable opposition between abstract and concrete languages.
