Abstract: The article begins by examining the concept of the dialogue of the arts into which Jean Cocteau inserts his references to drawing and conversation. It then turns to the modeling presence of graphical style in Le Grand Écart and the French style of conversation in Dessins, two works composed during the summer of 1922. It shows how, by making drawings for his album, Cocteau also thinks about drawing his novel and symmetrically, while working on his album, he pictures giving it the cursory style of a conversation.
