Abstract: The three lectures found in La Française et la France are studied from two points of view, ideas and style: his definition of “woman,” his approach to machinism, the art of the lecturer, his rhetorical methods of convincing his audience of the validity of his arguments, as well as his frequent recourse to a poetic style that grants a quasi-mythical dimension to women.
