Abstract: This article looks at Giraudoux’s writing from two points of view: that of the rewriting from one manuscript to another, from the novel to the film, and the evolution of the text; and that of style and the uniqueness of the author’s choices, in particular by looking at the treatment of Romanticism and the Baroque in his screenplay. This twofold approach highlights two discrete but essential threads: the presence of France, and a musical theme that guides the drama.
