Abstract: The letters from Alexandre to his parents and from Jean to Suzanne and to some of his friends reveal the relationships between Jean and his family and the bond between the two brothers and their mother; they also testify to what they experienced on the front and how they experienced it: Jean’s injuries, the impression of disorganization, patriotism, the small details of the daily life of soldiers.
