Abstract: Due to difficult existential circumstances, Picasso had a creative crisis in 1935, so he stopped visual production and devoted himself instead to writing. He took the chance to test the founding assumption of the surrealist dictation, or automatic writing. But Picasso is concerned with the relationship with reality, not with surreality. So what are the implications of his automatism? On the other hand, is automatism a possible key for the relationship between visual and verbal?
