This article shows the importance of Aristotle’s Meteorology in the works of Dante, an oeuvre filled with wind, earthquakes, thunder, and meteors. But this treatise offers not only a physical framework for the poet: his whole vision, his Trasumanar, rests on a poetics of metamorphosis for which he mobilizes the Aristotelian theory of meteorological phenomena.
