Un grand roman des années 1950 ? Les Deux Étendards selon Jean Paulhan

We intend to examine the reasons why Paulhan defends Lucien Rebatet’s Les Deux Étendards despite Paulhan's relative indifference to the novel in the 1950s. We will see that this text is identified by Paulhan as a true novel in the pure NRF tradition, while he describes traits that are, in his view, peculiar to literary modernity, especially the place given to eroticism, in connection with a topography of love that assumes and includes sexuality.
