Christian Grappe, « Qu’est-ce que la vérité ? Qui est la vérité ? La vérité en question dans l’Évangile de Jean » / « What Is Truth? Who Is Truth? Truth in Question in John’s Gospel »
For the fourth gospel, truth resides in the person of the Son and in the reception of his message, lying between God’s world and the human world, by the two chains of revelation and witness. Thus a quest for truth seen as an abstract value is put in question and truth is posited as the result of encounter with the Logos and of the new relationship which is inaugurated with him, but also through him and from him, with the world of God.

Daniel Gerber, « La vérité, joie de l’ἀγάπη (1 Co 13,6b) » / « Truth, the Joy of Agapè (1 Cor 13:6b) »
Used the first time in 1 Corinthians 5:8, the noun alètheia reappears in a rather unexpected way in 1 Corinthians 13:6b at a high point in the 194praise of agapè. Even if we have at our disposal few clear indicators for the interpretation of the word in this second context in rythmic prose, the basic idea that agapè finds its joy in truth encourages us to study it.
Keywords : Truth, joy, love, agapè, Paul, 1 Corinthians
Jennifer Wasmuth, « Wahrheitsfindung oder politische Inszenierung ? Das Konzil von Ferrara-Florenz » / « Truth Finding or Political Staging? The Council of Ferrara-Florence »
The Council of Ferrara-Florence (1438/39) was one of the most important events of the 15th century. Very often, the Council is interpreted in a one-sided way by focusing on papal diplomacy. On the one hand, it was a place of the Pope’s “staging” who succeeded in effectively presenting his claim to supremacy. On the other hand, it was a meeting of representatives of the West and the East Church, who have struggled intensively for the truth of the Christian faith.
Keywords : Council of Ferrara-Florence, truth, papal supremacy, West Church, East Church, filioque.
Theodor Dieter, « „Ringen um die Wahrheit“ : Luthers Disputation über die Tröstung der Gewissen » / « Struggle for Truth: Luther’s Disputation Over the Consolation of Conscience »
195In his Disputation Pro veritate inquirenda et timoratis conscientiis consolandis (1518), Luther presents his understanding of the effective promise of Christ said by the priest in his Absolvo te and the corresponding faith. The article describes the background of this understanding in Luther’s Resolutiones, analyses the precise character of promise and faith and the role of the priest in absolution, and elaborates on the distinction between faith as intentio recta and intentio obliqua.
Keywords : Luther, Resolutiones, 95 Theses, absolution, consolation, promise, faith.
Daniel Frey, « Fonction symbolique et vérité dans La Symbolique du mal de Paul Ricœur »/ « Symbolic Function and Truth in Paul Ricœur’s The Symbolism of Evil »
At a time when Pilate’s question about truth is being challenged, we question in this article that ways Paul Ricœur in his The Symbolism of Evil (1960) abandons the question of the veracity of myths of the origin of evil in order to focus attention on the « revealing » power of biblical accounts. This solution to the problem of truth has implications for the whole enterprise of philosophy of religion.

Christophe Chalamet, « “Je suis le chemin, la vérité et la vie” (Jn 14,6) » / « “I am the Truth and the Way and the Life” (John 14:6) »
How is the question of truth presented in New Testament theology, especially in the fourth gospel ? This article seeks to give the beginnings of an answer to this question through a study of John 14:6, of some elements in its reception by John Calvin, and of a reflection born of Augustine of Hippo’s insights on the notion of truth. In the fourth gospel, truth is personal (« I am ») and inseparable from two other ideas (« way » and « life »).
Keywords : Truth, John, Augustine, Calvin, Christology, way, life.
Marc Vial, « La foi, lieu d’effectuation de la vérité » / « Faith, Place of the Realization of Truth »
We hold that, as envisaged in terms of Christology, the notion of truth is helped by being understood in terms of transforming realization. This affirmation is linked to the doctrine of justification, here mainly conceived through the lens of anthropology. The result is an account of faith which, without denying that it exists as an active consent to propositions which it holds as true, presents faith above all as the place where truth becomes active.
Keywords : Faith, truth, Christology, justification, anthropology, transforming realization
Karsten Lehmkühler, « Les vertus de la vérité » / « The Virtues of Truth »
The idea of a « life in truth » can be exemplified in the framework of a theological ethics of virtue by underlining four « virtues of truth » : accuracy, sincerity, courage and prudence. These virtues of truth are taken as a manifestation of the sanctification of a humankind pardoned, as character-traits which are formed in God’s presence and which witness to a truth which sets free.
Keywords : Truth, virtue, accuracy, sincerity, courage, prudence, sanctification, freedom
Les leçons du film Noah » / « What is Man… When the Horizon of Grace is Obscured? The Lessons of the Film Noah »
This article analyses the film Noah as an effective revealer of humanity as simul peccator et justus. The film shows how an ordinary man becomes inhuman not through vice but through zeal to make himself the defender of divine truth. Noah experiences the torments of the Apostle Paul (Romans 7), as do many of today’s fanatics, who in God’s absence readily become God’s substitute. But human truth is fallibility, an insurance against fanaticism and inhumanity.
Keywords : Film Noah, truth, Paul, fallibility, fanaticism, inhumanity
