  • Abstract: Starting from the mise en prose (BnF, f. fr. 20125) of one version of the Roman de Thèbes, the article evaluates the treatment of the source-text transformed into L’Ystoire de Thebes in Vérard’s incunable (1491) and into the Rommant de Edipus (P. Sergent, first third of the 16th century). Assuming the concept of transtextuality (G. Genette), five lyrical passages in versified prose are brought out in the incunable. Additionally, in the two texts a great importance is given to the Œdipus’ history.
