The Compte du mantheau maltaillé (ms. Paris, BnF, fr. 2153) meets the minimal criteria of a prose rewriting, though it may be considered more than a prose version of the famous Cort Mantel. Its recent discovery produces a number of intriguing questions confirming the fact that the late medieval prose rewriting phenomenon really touched upon all genres.
