  • Abstract: The diffusion and translation of Paul Claudel’s work in Czechoslovakia was a slow process with many breaks, due to the ostracism of the authors. Nevertheless, translations and articles could be published for a short while. Illuminating the problems faced by Claudel’s translators also demonstrates the specificities of the language, and the ambiguity of the author’s feelings for the country.
