The biomimetic approach is inspired by solutions adopted by living organisms to improve products, services, or innovate in various fields. The most commonly used English terms are biomimetics and biomimicry, translated into French as (la) biomimétique and (le) biomimétisme respectively. But these terms are underpinned by very different ideological positions, which has an impact on translation, which is shown by the case of biomimetic architecture.
