Musset portrays the body of the characters from his short stories and novellas, conferring on it a narrative function, without excluding its referential function. And the characters use the body, more transparent than speech, to say the ineffable. But he proves to be misleading and, whether deliberately or not, interferes with communication: characters gradually emerge from the referential function of all language and use the body for non-communicative purposes as a powerful vector of symbolic violence.
