Motifs merveilleux et romans d’Antiquité
L’exemple du Protheselaüs de Hue de Rotelande

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work: Motifs merveilleux et poétique des genres au Moyen Âge
  • Author: Mora-Lebrun (Francine)
  • Abstract: To claim his affiliation with the earliest romans d’Antiquité, while affirming the singularity of his novelistic generation, Hue de Rotelande counts on the ludic criticism of the marvellous. While it amplifies the process of the rationalisation and demystification of the marvellous begun by his predecessors, his romance Protheselaüs also relies on derision to distance itself from literary mechanics.
