The encyclopedia, a development of the dictionary

A relationship of symbiosis exists between the dictionary and the encyclopedia. Fundamental to both is a semiotic axis, involving the same “process of interpretation” (Umberto Eco). Eco’s theories are fascinating: encyclopedia → dictionary. However, we prefer to maintain the filiation dictionary → encyclopedia.
