La vie des Pères is formed of edifying tales written between 1215 and 1250. This is the translation of the first collection, which links the stories borrowed from the Vitae Patrum to the Miracles of the Virgin. With its Cistercian influences, the Première Vie has virtually no equivalent within vernacular literature.
