General presentation of the Patin “papers” or “copybook” and, in particular, of the Vienna manuscript (Stadtbibliothek, codex 7071 – Hohendorf 133), which contains a mine of hitherto unexploited information on an abundance of subjects and people. It is also exceptional testimony as to the practices of the literary world in the years preceding the Fronde and more generally on the circulation of knowledge in France and in Euirope (above all in the Netherlands and in Italy) in the 17th century.
