Un exemple de dramatisation du matériau narratif L’adaptation théâtrale de trois nouvelles espagnoles par Alexandre Hardy

Though it was often criticized for its archaic style, Alexandre Hardy’s theatre, from other angles, is modern, resourceful and representative of baroque drama, as we can see through three tragi-comedies La Force du sang, Cornélie and Frégonde, adapted from Spanish short stories by Cervantes and Agreda. The dramatical structure points out conflicts and passions. The alternate focuses, which set off the fragility of the characters’ happiness, create contrasted effects and dramatic irony.
