This study presents the transcription of an undated letter from Georges de Lys to Verlaine that features in Frédéric-Auguste Cazals’ papers. Without doubt written around the time of the publication of the novel Une idylle à Sedôm toward the end of 1888, this missive illustrates the caution the poet was seen to show at the time concerning matters of moral heterodoxy, particularly with regards to the literary expression of homosexuality.
