“Lapsology” A Phenomenology of the Fall in the Work of Jean Héring

The aim of our study is to offer a new interpretation of the life of Jean Héring, professor at the Protestant Faculty of Theology in Strasbourg and member of Husserl’s initial circle. It hypothesises that Héring’s work is underpinned by a discrete phenomenology of Christian existence centred on the Fall, understood as the heart of an existential theology which endeavours to link protology and eschatology by understanding “lapsology” as a form of soteriology.
