Considering the variability of artistic forms over time, the Russian school of historical poetics, within which Bakhtin developed his thought, sheds light on the role of Proust at the turn of the century, with the Recherche realizing the dissociation of perception and thought by way of an indefinite I, a wavering authority that has become a new mode of representation of the world.
